Dr. Elizabeth Winfield Piantanida is a board-certified dermatologist with over 25 years of experience. She is delighted to have served the Colorado Springs, CO, community since 2008 and practices general and cosmetic dermatology. She founded Skin MD Dermatology Center in 2010. Her formal education and training include:
- University of California at San Diego (San Diego, CA) – BA, Animal Physiology
- Tulane university School of Medicine (New Orleans, LA) – Doctor of Medicine
- Tripler Army Medical Center (Honolulu, HI) – Transitional Medicine Internship
- Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Bethesda, MD) – Dermatology Residency
Upon completion of her dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dr. Piantanida served as an officer and dermatologist in the US Army until 2001. She is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). Throughout her professional career, Dr. Piantanida has contributed her expertise toward multiple scientific publications and presentations, as well as holding Clinical Professorships of Dermatology at various medical schools.
She is the recipient of numerous honors including the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society (AΩA), the Top Resident Award at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and was voted “Top Doctor” by her Colorado Springs physician peers for the past 6 years.
In her spare time, Dr. Piantanida has contributed to skin cancer prevention as physician director of multiple skin cancer screening events in Colorado Springs. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, traveling, skiing, and hiking — with plenty of sun protection.
